Bytewise offers a family of off-line measurement systems for inspecting discrete cross-sectional profiles of complex forgings. It replaces contact-stylus measurement systems and specialized fixed-gauging systems and achieves a substantial reduction in cycle time. These systems take a profile scan and then index either the sensors or the part to sequential positions in order to acquire multiple cross-sectional profiles. 

These systems are used for dimensional quality verification for airfoil forgings, medical parts forgings, and automotive forgings.

The software suite that is delivered with these systems provides for profile visualization and comparison of each profile to a design template.  Each template supports software calipers to extract key measurement parameters.  Point-cloud data files can be also exported to third-party analysis applications such as Geomagic, PolyWorks or RapidForm.
