On-Line Extrusion Profiling

Bytewise manufactures a family of on-line profile measurement systems that all utilize the Bytewise Sheet-of-Light ("SL")sensor technology to scan the outside profile geometry of an extruded product.  These sensors are extremely reliable because the have no moving parts and utilize non-contact laser triangulation methods. All products in this family also employ the Bytewise SL Software Suite, which provides for real-time measurement display, comparison of the actual profile to a design template, software caliper tools, trend display, alarming, test plan management, and statistical reporting.

These SL systems can be implemented at the end-of-line for quality monitoring and recording.  The real-time display provides an immediate indicator to the line operator when any dimension exceeds control limits so that corrective action can be taken.  Systems can also be located immediately after the die to provide a dimensional feedback signal for use in closed-loop speed control systems.

These On-Line systems can be used to measure and monitor any continuously-formed profile, such as rubber and plastic extrusions, aluminum extrusions, pultrusions, and roll-formed shapes.
